Hello miners!
We got some behind-the-scene stuff to share with you today!
With a project of this size, everything you do comes with its own scope statement. It all needs to be anticipated and addressed as much as possible, and this goes for all the visual material, such as pictures and videos.
This was the work of Julien Vang, our photographer and marketing specialist. He discovered his passion for photography after his father lent him his camera before a student exchange in South Korea.
He kept developing his skill over time all on his own, with experience and watching Youtube tutorials. You can discover his impressive work on his instagram: @fatboyinlille.
Julien’s task was to showcase our products with immersive visuals.
He did his best to capture all the details he could while making sure everyone would instantly recognize the iconic DRG design we all know and love. To achieve this, he set up a little studio in his flat, adding lights, reflectors and the necessary backgrounds. He also 3D printed various supports for the items
The bottle opener was another challenge as the metal reflected the light back, while its model didn’t allow it to easily capture its ergonomic. It’s also on the heavier side and it can be complicated to reflect that properly in visual material.
Another assignment that needed to be overcome was the trailer video we’ve made. Discussions were had, storyboards were drawn, and many liters of coffee were drunk before the production even started.
For all the photographers out there: Julien used a Sony A7IV camera body with an AMRON 35-150mm F, a 2-2.8 Di III XVD, and a Sony FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS.
If you didn't understand a goddamn thing, take it to R&D. The eggheads over there probably know what this all means.
Now, this is all nice but what else is new? Well, we’ve reached 5000 backers and the project has been funded to over 300% now! Again, thank you so much for your support during this campaign, miners!
We still have a bit of time left before it reaches its ends. The pledge manager will be opened after this and you’ll be able to select the colors for your mugs.
For Karl!
